Slam DUNK!
Okay so I squeeked by the minimum today with 1,661 words. Hey thats a really cool looking number. Anyway, I do hope to reach 2,000 before I close my eyes tonight.
I should be able to do that even before my husband comes back with my evening cigarello. That would be nice!
2,000 words is my personal daily goal. My strategy is to pad as many extra words as I can in there, for the days I KNOW I’ll have writers block. It happens, I know it so I have to make a minimum plan for catch up pre-burn out phase.
I wasted a collosol amount of time today, can you believe it? With all my planning and careful scripting you know what I forgot to do?
I forgot to choose a voice. You know, first person, third person, omnipotent voice? What?
So there on the spot, spur of the moment kind of thing, I had to dream up perhaps the most important character of all, the narrator.
Eiyie ie!
I said to myself, “Hazel, if that is indeed your real name, you have to do this quick, you have 2,000 words of prose to write, no notes, no lists , no comparisons of the symbolic appropriateness your new character’s name, no time to consult the tarot, just pick a name child! DO IT!”
I had no idea I was such a bossy witch!
Once I got over my shock of being spoken to that way by, indeed myself, I got another idea. And it clicked. After that it was only a matter of a short trip by google to find two possibly perfect names. I finally selected one. A little of the eeny meeny minee moe routine and voila! Mayrah, the Spring Wind of Flowers was born.
Now lets see if I can keep this up.
