Update with seven days to go!
With seven days left to go, do I think I’ll make it?
Doubt it, but I’m still on it. And if I don’t reach 50G, well thats okay too. I’m definately going to be working this story into something. I really like it, and I really want to tell it.
Okay so I have quite a few developments, first of which is I’ve cut the story in half.
Rather than following Uta and company through the entire journey, this story ends when she reaches the south pole, the halfway point of the original time line. This is plotted along six months of travel time.
Every year the earth takes one full breath, In, and out.
Uta’s story begins as the Earth inhales, part two begins as the planet exhales and predictably ends up at the North Pole, right back where she started out from.
Part three is purely extra terrestrial!
I’ve also got a number of sketches to post.
I did a couple wind personifications while trying to pin down their natures that I really ended up liking. They were done in charcoal, pen and pencil, and if you could see the originals you would be able to see shimmer of the charcoal. I am particularily in love with using this charcoal because I actually made it myself. Well, more like I scooped it up one morning after a good camp fire the previous evening. I have a poem around here somewhere I wrote on that particular trip, I’ll post it here.

Goals and accomplishments
My goal daily word goal is 16001st day 1661
2nd day 643
3rd day ZERO
But several sketches of charactors made, plus one decent composition of Mayrah, Wind of Spring Flowers, touching down on a snowy mountain peak. Filled half a notebook with notes, while in bed.
Also swept, dusted, scrubbed and otherwise organised stamp sized apartment, and lage cache of art supplies, which incidentally is still short on blue markers!
4th day 2,900 words
Thanks to Cylithria, who helped me work through the momentary panic of being behind on my word count with such kind comments on my last post. I am calm in the face of being 1,899 words behind my daily goal. After all on the plus side have excellent crop of notes and sketches. My map is starting to fill out, in short the story is unfolding nicely.
When I think about it 1600 words really doesn’t amount to much, about four pages of typed single spaced lines of text set at size 12, times new roman (or 10 arial) font. I’m less worried about the count at this point. I know a good push and I can hit the daily goal, but just out of the gate I’ll pitch for quality and throw it into higher gear once I have a better image to draw from.
Also, Mercury is retrograde in my sign right now. I’m sure things will turn around once it goes back right side round. That’s about four days away.
